Frank Sardino, Former Syracuse Police Chief and Owner of Frank Sardino Investigative Services. (31 years of dedicated service and invaluable guidance.)
A Note of Thanks: Honoring Mentorship & Service
I would like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to Frank Sardino, former Syracuse Police Department Chief of Police and owner of Frank Sardino Investigative Services for the last 31 years. Frank began his police career during a difficult time for our nation, as the conflict in Vietnam was taking shape. Frank’s service to the City of Syracuse began as a patrolman, and he can tell you amazing stories about some of the cases he has been a part of—or even led—over his career. Frank was involved in high-level cases over the years, working on organized crime and drug trade wires. He tracked down murderers, robbers, and everything in between throughout his illustrious career. He also led by example, providing his officers with an environment where they could accomplish the best for their community, always keeping public safety and trust in
mind, while providing room for his officers, detectives, and supervisors to be effective at what mattered most-- keeping the streets safe.

Frank was also excellent at the administration of duties required for the position of Chief of Police. Frank oversaw a gun buyback program in 1992, in which 2736 guns were turned in by citizens of Syracuse and ultimately melted down into an Ingot that is still displayed at Syracuse Police headquarters today. This was the largest gun buyback program in the history of the Syracuse Police Department.
After Frank’s retirement from the Syracuse Police Department, he started his own private investigation firm and successfully ran it for over 30 years. But it has never been about the money for Frank—he has always found value in using his skills and leadership abilities to solve problems and provide solutions to his community. It was no different with his personal business. Frank always goes the extra mile, and that is why his business was so successful. He always says it is about the people, and it is about relationships. That is something Google or AI will not teach us, but it would be wise to remember.
Frank’s mentorship and guidance in starting my own private investigation firm have proven to be invaluable, to say the very least. More importantly, Frank has done what he always has—given back to the next generation in the most unselfish way. Frank has offered his time, wisdom, and work to another private investigator who traded in his detective shield and handcuffs to use his skills for a new challenge, seeking to provide the highest quality investigative skills, learned over the course of a lifetime.
